Dumb Don and Smart Carney

The day Dumb Don was inaugurated for his first term as President of the United States in 2017, he could have solved the Iran problem in minutes.  Five months earlier, Publius showed him how:  offer free trade with NAFTA and the EU in exchange for denuclearization.  Simple, easy and wouldn’t have cost U.S. taxpayers a cent.

Had Don done this, he would still be the leader of the Free World.  Instead, his Iran failure presaged the Don-driven destruction of the U.S.-based global order for which so many died in two World Wars.  And allowed a very smart Canadian Prime Minister, Mark Carney, to step in to lead a new structure free of Dumb Don’s serial miscalculations and failures.

What went wrong?

As Publius learned up close and personal in an October 2013 email exchange, Don is illiterate.  His inability to read and write means that he could not study history or geography.  He could not tell you why Iran is the world’s oldest country or how it got there.  His business experience is a series of bankruptcies and fraud convictions.  He has no understanding of markets or economics.  He is just plain Dumb.

Had Dumb Don been able to read Publius’ Iran prescription of nearly a decade ago, and had he the mental capacity to act on it, the Middle East would have been transformed end-to-end.  American global leadership would have remained unquestioned.

It could have been amazing.  The money in Publius’ deal for Iran was so big that Iran’s merchants would have swept the Mullahs aside faster than you can say Ayatollah.  Seeing this money, the rest of the Middle East would have rushed to follow.

Take Gaza.  Hamas would have vanished in the Gazan rush for trade and economic prosperity.  No October 7th

There would have been no Israeli genocide in Gaza and Israel’s standing would have gone way up as peace descended on its frontiers.  Single state or two state for Israel and the Occupied Territories?  Could have been a civil discussion about big economic benefits.

Don could have leveraged America’s position to use the same solution to the Russia-Ukraine War and eliminate Vladimir Putin.

Nobel Peace Prize?  Instantly.  Don might have become the most celebrated President in U.S. history.

But Don is dumb.  He is incapable of understanding the power of the U.S. market economy or, as his tariffs show, how to use it to scale his own country let alone to use it strategically on the global stage.  He had all the leverage he needed, but he didn’t know he had it, let alone how to use it.  Don has never structured deals and has no idea how to.

Starting with Don’s Iran failure nearly a decade ago, he managed serial failures globally:

Deepening U.S. military involvement in the Middle East, where we haven’t had any strategic interest in decades, with uncertain outcomes and no clear goal.

Israel permanently destabilized as it fell into Egypt’s 1978 Camp David Accords Gaza trap on October 7th

Failure of the Gaza cease fire between Israel and Hamas and massive destabilization throughout the Middle East.

Failed peace deals between:  Cambodia and Thailand, Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo, Israel and Iran, Armenia and Azerbaijan, India and Pakistan, Serbia and Kosovo, and Russia and Ukraine.

Pointless U.S. claims to Canada and Greenland that mean the permanent destabilization, and possible dissolution, of NATO.  Huge victories for Putin and Xi.

The kidnapping of the President of Venezuela, effectively granting Putin permission to take out Zelenskyy and Xi to take out Taiwan’s Lai.

Allowing foreign governments, Russia and China, to control U.S. foreign policy, something that has not happened in the nation’s 250-year history.

A decade after Publius showed him what to do, Dumb Don’s intellectual incontinence in Iran is now stinking up Canada with which the U.S,. has the longest demilitarized border in the world and massive strategic interests.  How dumb can you be?

This is where Dumb Don’s Board of Peace is meant to take us?  No wonder no country in the first world is signing up.

To show how poorly he understands leverage, Dumb Don just withdrew Canada’s invitation to join his failed Board of Peace.

Canadian Prime Minster Mark Carney responded by stepping in to replace Dumb Don as the undisputed leader of the Free World.  He put Dumb Don’s failures this way:  “we are in the midst of a rupture, not a transition.”  “We know the old order is not coming back.  We should not mourn it.  Nostalgia is not a strategy.  But we believe that from the fracture, we can build something better, stronger, more just.”

Thank you Smart Carney!

Today India and the EU cut a free trade deal, slashing Dumb Don's leverage.
